Last week I harvested some Cherry from a tree my brother dropped. It was a Choke Cherry approx 3’ diameter. The first fork was about 20’ off the ground. This is from the first fork. This piece is 14” diameter. I have it roughed and soaking in DNA. I will check back in a couple of months with the finished piece.

I’m just learning about turning and haven’t done any turning of green wood yet. I assume you mean Denatured Alcohol when you say DNA. Why do you soak in DNA?

Yes DNA is Denatured Alcohol. DNA pushes out the “bound” water in the wood and allows your bowls to dry enough in 6 weeks so you can turn it to finish. Bound water is the water that doesn’t get slung out as you are turning green stock.
