This spoon is to be delivered to a special lady that does so much to help others. She loves the asian theme and is also a very talented carver. I thought I would do my best to carve a spoon for her and this is the design I came up with. The symbol in the middle means friend.
I think she will be pleased.
It is carved from Black Walnut and is finished with poly. It is not for use in food.
It is approx. 13” long and 2.5” wide by 3/4” thick.
Thanks for looking

Jim, your talent is extraordinary.
It is incredible what you can do with wood & carving tools.

Your friend will flip over this one!

Very nice. I’ve always been interested in seeing how the spiral section is carved out. I’ve seen that technique done a a few pieces of work, and I like how it turns out.

WOW!

I took it upon myself to try my hand at carving, and have been doing so since last Thanksgiving. It seems I have a skill set uniquely suited to producing both both hamster bedding and a mess. Always humbling to see what those with an upright gait can accomplish in their tool use.

That is beautiful.

Mighty fine work my friend. Your bevels are so clean, it almost looks like marquetry.
