I decided I wanted to try and do a relief carving with the hope that eventually I might be able to do some small carvings in future furniture type projects to make them unique. Great job, especially knowing it was your first attempt!! In my opinion your wife is right…the rough look does add something to the final look of the piece. I do that sometimes on my carvings as well…gives it more of that “hand crafted” look as opposed to something that was machine carved. : )
