I have been promising my wife her “Grand Bed” for a number of years and after umpteen different plans and changes to those plans I finally got it done. I drew the plan in Sketchup of which i am a fan. It has a headboard that is 6’6” tall and it weighs a “ton”. It took me and two strapping 16 year old grandsons to bring it in the house and get it set up. It was built around a new king size adjustable bed that we purchased. It is made out of dimensional Southern Yellow Pine lumber from Home Depot and various lumber outlets (a lot of picking). The horizontal slats are 1” x 4” yellow pine, tongue and groove porch flooring.
