Built this cedar wannigan for a co-worker who loves canoeing. I believe it suppose to basically serve as picnic basket for a canoe. It’s built from western cedar that I re-sawed for the various dimensions. The sides are 3/4 thick with a rabbit cut into them for the bottom pieces to fit into. The ribs were cut 5/16 thick and steamed for about 3 hours so that I could bend them. I would like to put some nice leather handles and the for the lid fastners. Howeverr, I may just use a quality soft woven rope…. I dunno yet, I have to ask my wife for the asthetic point of view.
It was a fun project, learned a lot about steaming wood…. 1) steam is hot, 2) Stop picking up hot lumber with bare hands, 3)...
