I wanted to jazz up our entry way. My plan was to buy a bunch of wood stain and weather it then tack it up ship lap style then to add a coat rack.
I had my cart filled up with wood at the hardware store and a walked past a box of these boards that were basically what i hoped to create. so i tacked installed those. (making the slats would have been more fun however it would have taken several weekends just prepping the wood and I am happy with the quality of these slats)
the coat rack section was made by layering several pine boards (painting was always the plan) I had never made anything like that but i watched a YouTube video where they made some custom trim around some windows in a similar manor so I tweaked it to my liking. ripped boards using table saw, glue and pocket whole construction then several coats of paint. figuring out how close to put the hooks was hard for me but after setting hooks up on top for a few days a different intervals i figured out what felt best. My little helper helped hang the hooks. now she says “look what I built” to anyone who comes over.

I would have liked to try a biscuit joiner on this project, i think it would have been a slick way to put this together. if i did it again I would find one of those to try it out.

This looks very nice and you’ve done a fine job on it.

This looks great. Beautiful job. I really like the look of it all together.
