Project Information

So sitting at the bottom of my stairs at my front door, I had to come up with an idea to stop sitting in the way on my uncomfortable stairs to put my shoes on (as well as my kids shoes on) so I whipped up this idea. Solid maple, seat slats and back board are mortised in so its not budging before the wood snaps, also the maple leafs were carved in but were very unseen so i filled them with woodfill. I finished the project with wipe on poly as always. Easy done.

Really nice bench, Mark!

I've heard of a walk-in closet, but never a walk-in bench. :)

Throw a piece of plywood on it and get a short stool and you have a very nice work bench.

That doubles as a bench for shoes putting onner.

I was anticipating learning what a walk-in-bench looked like too Charlie. So disappointed to find a sit-down-bench instead… Oh well, it is a nice looking "place to sit" - (don't want to confuse it with a bench), and the carving looks great.

thx everyone…it is a tiny bench but i really wanted to make it accessable for my daughter and my son-on the way. it also takes away the cluster-f*ck look at the bottom of my stairs.
