It ain’t pretty but it works. I have always like homemade jigs, machines, tools etc.

As the title says, this is a proof of concept prototype.I know there are plans out there. But I have reasons not to use them. For example, I want a simple design and something where I can use different parts, widths, materials, etc.

If anybody is interested in developing some ideas along these lines, pm me. Nothing serious, just to kick around ideas, improvements. I made some notes and sketches and stuff (I am no engineer or artist).

About the clamp pictured. I built is in about 2 hours using scrap that was lying around. Mostly rustic cherry. It is very powerful and appears to stay parallel. I used a 5/16 threaded bolt, and that was the first thing to deflect. The clamp is maybe 18 inches long and the jaws have a capacity of about 5 1/2 inches.
