This was one of my biggest projects. Over 200bf of hard maple. This bench has its definite challanges. The top is 4” thick. The aprons are 5-1/4” wide. Veritas twin screw side vise. I offset the left end screw for clamping wide boards verically. The tail vise is a Lie-Nielson. The benchweights over 400lbs.

This is gorgeous! I’ve started my hard maple accumulation so I can build one as well. Absolutely a great job on this. You should be very proud.

Stunning, makes me want to start building one of my own. Bout how much time did you put into it? 400 lbs bout as sturdy as you can get I bet.

JAMES, I REALLY LIKE THE WORK THAT GARRETT HACK PUTS OUT. HE IS CREATIVE & USES REALLY GOOD TECHNIQUES. PRETTY GOOD INSTRUCTOR TOO. THIS WORKBENCH PLAN CAN BE FOUND AT FWW #209 ISSUE. (DAVE R. ASKED ABOUT THE PLAN)
AWESOME, ROBUST & BEAUTIFUL WORKBENCH! WITH WHAT I THINK ARE EXCELLENT MODIFICATIONS.
NICE WORK . . . GOOD JOB!
THANKS FOR POSTING THIS VERY RUGGED & WELL CONSTRUCTED WORKBENCH!!

I think you’ve done particularly well. Nice clean joinery. Nothing out of place. Good branded vice hardware. (I’m quite sure why the shoulder vice doesn’t appear to close though.) Top job. I would be happy with that in my workshop.

The only things I changed from Garretts design is the tickness of the top from 3” to 4”. And the aprons from 4-1/4” to 5-1/4” due to the top changing thickness. The tool well has also increased from 2-1/4” to 3-1/2”.

The vise is not close wanted to show all the throgh dovetails.

very nice work i see you added a little helper to your bench but don’t you think he might be a little young to use those sharp tools? LOL ;)

Very nice bench. I believe those are the biggest dove tails I`ve ever seen.
Good job.
