So funny, made this jig to help me mark out the pins for dovetails, made with box joints ;-) Red Oak with a mineral oil and beeswax finish. Works good, you can see my first attempt at half blind dovetails.

The geometry and layout on those dovetails looks perfect. That’s exactly how I lay them out too, with a nice thin pin.

Great job.

I can’t tell if you did already but you may want to chamfer the bottom edge of the straightedge. To allow sawdust an excape when lining up. Admittedly I smiled when I saw the finger joints. Looks great!

Thanks, and thanks for the advice, I’ll do it.

Good job! I use a similar alignment board, less the fence. When I do half-blind dovetails on drawers the sides extend below the drawer front by about a 1/16th of an inch.

Thanks for the link, I’m gearing up to make some mission end tables and they feature drawers with half blind dovetails, so your link is extremely helpful.

Alas I’m always in too much of a rush to make my jigs look good.

Your jig looks good!

Nice Job Jerry!

I know, the irony of that didn’t hit me until I made it.

Nice job (as usual) Jerry. Now make another 1/2 corner. Then all you’ll need is a bottom and you’ll have a nice little box !
