I really like the inset note, well done.

Meaded, you have been busy working in your shop. I see that you have posted nearly 200 projects. You have a real knack for bringing out the best in the wood you are working with. Thanks for sharing your projects with us.

This is a great box. Of course the inset notes set it apart Nice job there. I like that it is not centered on the lid. The cove cut in the top is a nice touch as is the indented, elongated finger lift. That keeps the look clean and is a practical way to open the box. The corner splines add eye appeal and strength to these joints and help to pull the whole design together. The red leather lining was a surprise and adds to the project. The cumaru seems to be brittle and tends to splinter when you cut it across the grain. A little more sanding on the topmost bead would clean up the tops of the corner miters.

Like all of your work this box is well designed and has an element of whimsy about it. You have really mastered woodworking. Keep boxing and keep posting.
