Project Information
Table is made from 5/4 rough sawn oak. The planks were all 12" wide but I ripped them down to 6" wide and the planed and jointed dimension ended up being 1" X 5.5". I planed the oak with my DW735 thickness planer. The best part was the oak was given to me by a good old friend who has stacks of it. The only problem I had was the oak was stored outside in an open sided shed and I didn't let it dry long enough before assembling the top. After the finished table had set for a few weeks in the house the top shrank about 3/8" and I had to go back and trim the ends of the bread board and finish the cut ends. Worked out fine because I left plenty of play in the mortis and tendons for movement. The finish is stain and tongue oil.
