Hi, a simple cedar box. Resawed rough boards and milled to 1/2” thick. Mitered corners with cocobola splines. Ogee routed on top lid, and top has a 1/16” overhang. Used 1/2” brass butt hinges on top. Bottom is 3/16” cherry ply covered with red wine felt. Two coats of wipe on poly and two coats of wax. Thanks for looking.

Donnie

This box I like. I love to use and see knots in pieces. There is something in doing that that is just straight forward and natural. Nice box.

NFG
No I don’t mean No F*ing Good… Natural Feature Grade.. A lot of custom work here in Australia is starting to use NFG with knots, gum vein, splits, worm holes and “defects” ... and adding value to the piece thereby driving the price up.

Very elegant box. Very good description. Thanks for posting a straight forward example of how a project should be posted for new comers to LJ’s. We love to know more about a project, here’s a good one.

This is a very elegant little box. The finish is beautiful and the grain of that cedar is really great. Well done.

Beautiful, simple, understated, yet hold a strong presence and stands well.
