THIS IS MY LATEST PROJECT, A “GOSSIP BENCH”.
IT IS MADE OF SOLID OAK WITH AN AROMATIC CEDAR BOTTOM IN THE MAIN STOAGE AREA.
THE DRAWERS ARE CEDAR LINED AND HAVE JEWELRY HOLDERS IN THEM.
IT IS BUILT WITH ALL RECYCLED WOOD AND PIECES THAT HAVE BEEN STASHED AWAY IN THE SHOP WAITING FOR A PROJECT LIKE THIS.
FINISH IS MINWAX STAIN AND DEFT SPRAY LACQUER.

Very nice bench. Interesting combination with the jewelry holder. What was the inspiration?

Now that’s a neat idea!

Very nice piece, very creative. Did you do the turnings yourself, or were they purchased for the project? I really like the design.

I like it!
It’s a good mix of lathe and conventional tools in action on one piece.
I’m not a big fan of oak due to the grain restrictions during finishing but you did an excellent job of matching your up.
Is there a plan?
How many hours?

Really neat idea, Ray. No, Deb, for you girls we want no padding. If the seat is really rough you won’t spend so much time on the telephone.

Hi Ray,
You posted this before I came on board but I am glad it surfaced on my list. Very nice. It has a nice design and the construction looks to be well executed. I would have liked to see more pictures though.
thanks for the post.
