Very simple box. A friend needed this short notice so I rushed the finish. Never good but in a couple days I got a build on the lacquer, used fine steal wool and put a couple buffed coats of 100% Carnuba wax. Definitely not preferable, but doing it very carefully it seemed to work. I did notice just sitting on the table over night there were indentations from the soft finish on the bottom so I had to wax and buff it again. All in all I think it came out ok even with my doubts about the finish. I was really surprised by the dark grain even after planing and sanding. It was a very old board, but I thought taking it down would lighten the color, maybe this means it won’t darken much over time? getting the finish “right” took twice as much time as the build took.
