Here are some carvings that have a coat of oil on them to seal the basswood. Next stop, the paint table. Thanks.

Great characters, Mike. I love their eyes. Looking your other projects can I make a suggestion while in the paint shop? “Drybrushing”. Examples: old man beards get a base color of light grey and a drybrush of white for highlights; young man beards get a base color of dark brown or black and a drybrush or light brown or tan; shirts and pants get a base color of choice then a faint drybrush of light blue, light green, white, or light grey for highlights.

When I painted my Christmas Elf it was bland and missing something until I put on highlights on the clothes. I drybrushed a light sage green and the colors and character just popped.

Just a suggestion.

Oh, how I envy you guys with the carving talents. Those are really great. I guess I just do no have the hand eye coordination for it. I love them.
