Here is my take on a great plan that can be found on CherryTree. (

This one is for our kids, but we’re already working on a few more sets for gifts. I loved the idea of a puzzle truck, but admit that this part doesn’t really work all too well. It’s still a cute idea, and I think that the trade off of car shape for slightly more interlocking cars was worth it. They are much more “playable” in my opinion. Anyway, I can’t wait to make more….. this toy making is soooooo fun!

Very funtional, maybe for stability either a peg system or interlocking dados? The color sheme works great. thanks for the link.

wow, thanks for all of the kind words everyone! :)

@bigbuddha—Well, I made it for our kids ages 3-6, but even our 8 year old loves it. Our nephews were over playing with it today also, and I’d have to say that it’s great for the 1-5 ages. I’d love to see what you come up with!
@glory—dados would probably be the most stable I bet. That bottom car holds on really well just with the wheels overlapping. I really like the idea of pegs, maybe the top cars could be changed into something like an ambulance and a police car. With the light bar being a peg, and holes in the trailer.

Anyway, thanks again for all of the feedback everyone!

Update: finished another one of these guys for my nephew. And trying to learn how to update a project with a picture :).

This time I used all 1/4” dowels for axels instead of screws. It’s a lot more stable and easier to keep aligned properly. I’m learning :)
