Just finished doing a live edge counter top. We did this as a full custom from cutting down the tree to milling it to finishing it in the area it is to be installed in. The tree had been standing dead for 2 years and came out at 6 percent moisture when it came off the sawmill. All cracks and checks were filled with epoxy mixed with coffee grounds for color. Checks also have butterflies on top and bottom. 7 coats of polyurethane finish it all off.

Nice to know I’m not the only one who mills out dead-standing trees. Sometimes you find some fantastic treasures in that kind of wood. Great work, keep it up!

Have your say...
