My wife was born in the house her mother was born in, Germany, and often talked about her Grandmother’s wash bowl and pitcher. Numerous years ago I purchased her one that was an antique from England. This year I decided to build her a stand for it. I found two singer sewing machine stands while hunting years ago and used them to make nightstands for us. I decided that a stand would be nice for her bowl and pitcher. We located one that still had the top, bad shape, and drawers in it. I disassembled the unit and prime and painted the stand. I rebuild the drawers, new bottoms, and slides and reassembled them. I purchased some white oak boards and made the top. Stain all the wood Provincial and sprayed two coats of clear semi-gloss polyurethane on it. This makes a beautiful Valentines day gift for my wife. She is ecstatic over it.
As requested I have added a picture with the basin and pitcher.
