Finally got this solid cherry bedframe project completed for the wife! After looking at it in a CAD model for way too long, it’s nice to see it standing. Full of mortis and tennon joinery, finished with shellac and polycrylic. I took a stab at wood burning too, turned out pretty good. Its a scene of a place we go camping near Avery, Idaho. Caps are held on by dowels. Rails are fastened to each column by 2×3/8” x 5” socket head cap screws 8 total. Slots mortised into rails for bolts. The columns are hollow with a threaded insert inside them to accept the bolt. Definitely an heirloom piece and fortunate to have it.
-- Measure once cut twice and if it's still too short cut it again.
