The Island

The Island started out as an old dining table we bought at a thrift store for cheap.
Our friends needed an island for their kitchen so we set about modifying
the table into a work center with a couple of drawers.
The goal was to make this look well used and abused.
This was done by planking the top and distressing the wood,
then paint and glaze were used to accent the lines and the damage.

Watch how this was done on YouTube.
This is my first video, let me know what you thought of it.

That turned out great. Looks like it’s been used for decades.

When I saw the email announcing a project by Andy titled “The Island”, I was expecting a new box design that looked like a tropical island of some sort. :-)

Instead, I got an actual island. And a gorgeous one at that!

OK now you’ve done it. My wife wants one as nice as this one. Thanks a lot Guy…

Can’t think of a better compliment than this friend.

Andy,

You’re branching out. Nice touches that you added to the table/island. I have some old wood you could have used. LOL! I too thought it was the title of an art box. Your friends are very lucky people. Video was great. I’m guessing like me you didn’t like your voice?

Loved the pointer.

Music transitions were a little hard for me. But you got your first video out. congrats on the project and the YouTube vid.

Andy…..a new direction? I really like the island. You gave it a real antique/heirloom look and it will be even more serviceable than in its former life. Beautiful!
