This is my second St. Louis box. This one is made from Walnut, Maple, Padauk, and the drawer pull is Bloodwood. I made it according to the instructions in the book except for one thing. I made small rails from a 1/4” dowel that I split down the middle on my bandsaw. I glued the dowel halves on the part of the bottom of the recess for the drawer, where it slides. This evened out the space around the drawer made by the saw kerf. The finish is water based polyurethane that I buffed and waxed. I added small grippy rubber feet to the bottom.
-- I'm happiest when I have wheels on my feet or sawdust in my hair.
