This came about when a collegue asked me to make a box… as usuall i got carried away. i found some ceder and cleaned it up and glued to the gain the right width. just using a few basic tools i cut the finger joints…i must admit i did make a few mistakes and redone some sides but with a sturdy block of hardwood clamped on to the shoulder line and a stupidly sharp chisel i got my desired result. doing the lettering was my first attemp at carving.

Nice work! Great lettering.

In my sick little mind I’m imagining this with a document shredder attachment dangling from the bottom . . .;-)

Cedar is tough to work with no? It’s like trying to cut joints in celery, really soft but with lots of sinews. And it bruises like a hemophiliac. That you were able to letter carve in it is a testament to your sharpening ability.
