Live Edge Walnut Bar Top

I recently installed a live edge bar top that was made from two slabs of black walnut (8/4” x 18” x 12’). The slabs were broken down into smaller pieces to form the U-shape of the bar. The slabs are joined by loose tenons to maintain a flush top and mechanical fasteners to draw the joints together from underneath. The slabs are not glued together. Bowties were inserted in the undersides of the slabs to keep cracks in check. The bar top’s dimensions are approx 1.75”T x 18”W x 12.5’L. The slabs are finished with three coats General Finishes Arm-R-Seal – Satin.
