I actually made this one specifically for my wife knowing she would take it anyway. This is gift #5 in our tradition of 14 days of Valentine’s.
What do you think?

Nice!
How did you turn/leave that large lip on there?
Not a turner.

I didn’t cut past the edge of the square blank when turning the bottom, just close to it. I thin sanded them round. Hope that makes sense

Beautiful bowl. Great wood, fantastic shape, excellent proportions, I like everything about it EXCEPT…

...”gift #5 in our tradition of 14 days of Valentine’s.”

Could you please keep that to yourself? It could create MAJOR problems for the rest of us. Twelve days of Christmas, Fourteen days of Valentine’s, where does it end? 30 days of Mother’s Day? 60 Days of Anniversary? 365 days of Birthday? Stop the madness or we’re doomed, Doomed, DOOMED! :)

Nice square bowl. I have to try this. Question: how do you balance it if you dont turn it round?

You want your bowl blank to have 90 degree angles all around and cut perfectly square. If you mount t you face place dead center when you turn it it will be balanced.

Steve, I love this bowl and it’s very creative and no doubt it will be a wonderful gift to your wife. It’s bound to be a family heirloom.
