Just keeping busy in the shop with little things. Decided to try a small steam bent project and as Valentines Day is nearly here (and our anniversary) I thought that a heart shaped candy box would test my skills with steam bending.
Real thin poplar sides and bottom an oak top with bow. First try didn’t come out so good but learning from that, the sides got a whole lot thinner. Success the second time. An hour of steaming and I still had about only about 3 minutes to get it bent and secured. The oak ribbon was real thin (about 1/32) and it was real easy to bend anyway I wanted. It is about 12” x 10” x 1 1/4” , finish with minwax polycrylic. Thanks for looking.
