Its been a long time since Ive posted but I managed to finally get something made. These boxes are for a buddy of mine who is getting married. I hope they choose to use these boxes in their wedding as the ring bearer box but Ill leave that decision to them.

The boxes are made of maple burl (from my backyard) which are bookmatched on top and the drawer sides and back are bubinga wood. The drawer bottoms and drawer pulls are leather. There arent any fancy joints, just basic butt joints but I oriented the grain is such a way to keep the end grain glue joints to a minimum. I think the boxes are pleny strong enough this way.

For the finish I started off with a danish oil to darken the wood slightly and bring out the curls then top coated with gloss polyurethane. The box measures 2 1/2” square (outside) and is 1 1/4” tall. The drawer measures 1 1/4” square (inside). Thanks for viewing, Andy.

These are lovely boxes. Hope with you that your buddy chooses them for the rings, the boxes are certainly worthy of that. Congratulations Andy!

Those are beautiful ring boxes! It’s obvious that you put a lot of thought and care into them, and I’m sure the happy couple will love them!
