my second big woodworking project…..

we moved into our current home in 2007 and the gas fireplace was only finished with a painted drywall box around it, so I built this mantel to literally sit on top of it (which is why it’s not touching the ground). Within a year after we decided to remove the fireplace completely and I sold the mantel separately. Glad I never attached it…

mostly MDF structure, with poplar and pine trims, then 4 coats of Benjamin Moore Collection Ultra White Latex

Looks awsome! What material did you use ? MDF? Might make one for one of my daughters.
