When we built our present house 5 years ago to save money I was able to do a lot of the WW projects. Here are 3 pictures of the kitchen. The wood is Maple with a custom glaze my wife formulated. The white cabinet is a take-off of a flour safe and the top is Hard Maple. It does not show in the picture but the end panel on the Refrig is a 6 panel raised panel wall, it was really fun to glue-up. The glass front cabinets were added after we moved in because I designed the cabinets for a 8’ ceiling and the archect laid it out for 9’ ceilings and it didn’t look good with the spacing above the cabinets. It was a headache to fit the cabinets above the old ones and have the proper spacing for the crown molding. The granite was installed by “Professionals” from the Orange Borg. I raised the Dishwasher 12” above the normal cabinet heigth which makes it a lot easier to load and unload. That made a nice place for the Microwave to be more at eye level. The stove is in the island (4.5’ x 6’)with built-in downdraft fan. My wife really likes the lay-out, two or more people can be in the kitchen at one time with plenty of room.

Beautiful kitchen. I like the open storage at the top of the wall cabinets.

Yeah, me too. It is an interesting way that you two covered the cabinet tops with the glass display cabinets, and raising the dishwasher will surely save your back. Whats underneath the dishwasher? This is definately a real nice custom job. But your typo of (raising the dishwasher 12’) is gonna get you some ribbing here. I can see it comin’!

Real nice job! great looking cabinets…I like the top display cabs. The countertops are a great accent color to your glaze and the pendant lighting works for the space. A great looking well designed work area… I need to do the same, I am constantly bumping into my wife and daughter when trying to cook! Do you need a catapult to load the dishwasher? LOL Sorry, I just had too..;)

waroland,

I don’t care how you got there, but I sure like where you ended up. That’s one nice kitchen. I like the way you solved those “problems” you encountered along the way.

What a great idea raising the dishwasher were you able to but a draw for storage under it?

Under the DW is a false raised panel that is held by magnetic catches to access the plumbing that the plumber put in the wrong place. I had intented to put a drawer under the DW. The lower cabinets are on adjustable feet that made leveling a breeze. The kick plate attaches to the feet with clips that came with the feet.

Very pretty. Lots of SWMBO brownie points for this one.

Now that is a sweet kitchen. Very nice work and great job working around the un-planned ceiling height etc. I’m sure it didn’t feel this way at the time but I think they actually did you a favor with the mistakes. The display cabinets are fantastic.

I better not show my wife this set-up. She’ll be wanting this for sure. Great job.
