Simple Sofa Table

I was scrolling through my Facebook feed and I stumbled across a video of a simple DIY sofa table. The idea was to get a single 1×6 the length of your couch, get a few deck spindles, attach with L-brackets, paint and enjoy. I started with that idea and then added a few touches of my own.

I decided to use two matching lengths of 1×6 to create a two piece table (more for transportation purposes). I used 6 deck spindles and instead of using L-brackets I wanted to use pocket holes to be more atheistically pleasing. I put two spindles on each end and then I offset the spindles in the middle. To add more of a decorative look I used the router and a Cove and Bead bit on the under side and a 1/8” round over on the top. Add a bit of stain and poly and we were good to go.

Additionally, to solve some power issues we were having in our living room I added a power/USB outlet to the top side connected to a power strip mounted to the under side.

Well done. Simple, looks great, and provides great functionality. I like it.

Yes this is a great idea. I would have made wider (Front to Back). But for what you want this was fast and well executed.

Nice build. Funny that my neighbor just asked me about something like this for their living room. Nice addition of the power outlets.
