Here are a couple of walking sticks. Carving walking sticks is what I do to break up the boredom of carving chess pieces (just kidding…sort of).

They are all about 60” in length and started out at about 2.5-3” in diameter, the carvings are about 12-16” on each. The one in the middle is made from Black Jack Oak, which has a very dark gray, almost black color to the wood which doesn’t show up very well in the photo. The other two are from Florida Cyprus and all three were found in my backyard.

They are entirely hand carved using 1/4”, 1/2”, and 3/4” straight edge bench chisels and a couple detail chisels.

Beautiful Walking Sticks My Man!! I have a recurring dream that I was a Viking in a Previous Life. Guy on the Right looks familiar …LOL…

I love spiritman or dude faces (as I call ‘em) walking sticks. I sometimes wonder why I don’t see more old woman faces too.

My father used to carve these when I was a kid. I wish I had one. Maybe I should bug him! HAH!
