Here are a couple of hollow form vessels turned from end grain walnut. The large vessel measures approximately 9.5 inches tall by 5.25 inches wide. The small vessel measures approximately 5.5 inches tall by 5 inches wide. They are finished with wipe-on poly and black tinted wax.

All comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated.

Very nice! I like the idea of keeping them together as a pair…

These are really elegant. I have not ever tried turning except for a bat in high school, how long does it take to hollow them out? How do they not break?

These are great!

Joe, what type of hollowing tool do you use?

Thanks for the feedback.

Charlie, I use the Trent Bosch 5/8” straight and 5/8” bent tools.

Chelios, turning time was about 1.5 hours for the small and 2.5 on the large.

Peas in a pod sounds like a good name too?

These pieces look like they came from the same piece of wood, just one above the other. Great looking pieces. I have researched the internet and came to the conclusion that the Trent Bosch hollowing tools are the best. I have the same set, only difference mine is 1/2”.

Do you use a light on the outside Joe to Keep the thickness even? By the way gorgeous.

I too agree that when apart, although beautiful, just doesn’t have the same effect as when they are viewed together.
Very nice job

I really like these simple ones. I like the “Laurel and Hardy” suggestion.
