Saw a post last week from someone who turned Magnolia. Made me remember this piece I did a while back. This started as a Magnolia bowl about 6.5-7.0” inches in diameter.

I drew a line from the center of the bowl outward with the lathe spinning slowly and it created a spiral pattern. I hand duplicated this pattern two more times and then cut along the lines with a bandsaw.

This was more of an experiment than anything else, so I never smoothed out the edges very nicely. Still, it’s a fun piece as you can manipulate it around to make other shapes.

You should sand it, and glue it in the position it is in.
I think this is an interesting and pretty piece !

Very cool! I like the way it flows. Now that is thinking outside of the bowl. haha
