My lovely wife commissioned the wood shop for a small cabinet to store her essential oils and other potions in a thoughtful and tasteful way. I’m moving from small boxes to small cabinets now I guess as I work hard to gain new skills. I think I’m about ready for a small end table or some other full size furniture now.

I had several nice unused pieces of cherry, maple, oak, poplar, and hemlock in the shop so I let the wood take it where it wanted to go. When I accidentally glued-up the box before realizing the doors would be too narrow, we walked to the river and cut some fresh alder to extend them a bit. The branches brought a different, but pleasing look to the work we think.

Finished in teak oil and wax and now filled with her oils.

Very nice box. I like the grain on the doors.
As your wife’s collection grows you may want to provide increased storage capacity along the lines of the one I made a while back http://lumberjocks.com/projects/61163
