I needed a place to hold my favorite tools. Made it out of walnut and ambrosia maple (resawn). Finished with BLO and wax. Some may think it is a waste to use nice wood for tool storeage; I probably would as well except my wife is Not a fan of walnut. So I guess I will just have to outfit my shop with fancy cabinets (I was given a stock pile of walnut from my father in law – down sizing).

This is a very beautiful and well executed storage cabinet for your planes. I like the choice of woods.

Very nice! I really like the look of the Maple against the walnut!

Also, instead of having to use above referenced number, if you need to get rid of some of that Walnut, I’m a fan of it and would feel better helping your marriage!!

Very nice design and your craftsmanship looks great. Also like the contact in wood color.
I was trying to figure out how the planes stay in place while it stands vertically.

Thanks for the nice words, I think she is a little crazy as well, but she does like Cherry which would be grounds for separation if she didn’t.

Remdds, the cabinet is deep enough for the planes to lay on their sides.

Yep, the wife is the problem. Not the wood or your craftsmanship.

Nice. Simple. Elegant. My plan is to eventually outfit my shop (Man Cave Le Outside) with nice looking cabinets. Why Not? Mine as well enjoy your favorite space, right?
