At the Detroit Woodworking Show in February of this year (2010), I was able to try my hand at turning a pen. This was courtesy of Craft Supplies USA. I had a blast! I am now looking into what equipment to get so I can have this fun more often.

Nice job on the pen. I got the bug this winter too. Have really enjoyed it. Not wanting to spend a fortune I went to Harbor Freight when they had their Central Machine 12×36 Variable Speed lathe on sale for $229.00 and I had a 25% off coupon so I thought I would start out cheap. I cut the 12” tool rest down to 6”and it works fine for pens. Great hobby for not alot of dollars.

Nice job on the pen, however you are now hooked and have the pen making illness.
