Needed new a marking gauge, and a mortise marking gauge, so I set out to build some out of scrap for a job that needed them.

Scrap oak was used, and these were made using only hand tools. The screws were just old bolts that I had laying around. I ground a nail to a sharp point before driving it into the marking end. These work very nicely.

Great work.
You really know what to throw away, what to keep and you know when to hold when to fold – but I know you’re not a gambler as is portrayed by Kenny Rogers in his song, the phrase that I copied from.
