A Bench With A Secret

Another bench from Real Mahogany with Holly string inlay and two Birds Eye Maple inlays.
This one shows how I make the secret compartment. The secret tray is held in the up position with a rare earth magnet and pulled down by the short dowel at the trays front.
I also make the tray such a tight fit that it will remain in the up position without the magnet.
The cat is just nosy and has no real interest in woodworking.

Cats keep secrets really well. What a cool idea for a hiding place.

You did real good with the birdseye strips inlayed into the top…....but then you got lazy and didn’t finish the underside of the legs! ;=)

I’m allergic to cats, but the secret tray is really good, well placed and sure to be used.

A beautiful bench. These secret compartments are really intriguing to me, I need to start experimenting with these.
