A ways back i got a call from a lady that wanted to add a porch to her house , i told her sure let look at it , well it was a very big one but i managed to get er done but it took a few weeks , one day as i was putting up the hand rails one of her friend came by to see her , told her she was gone and didnt know when she would return, she asked about the rails and said they looked great but asked did i have a carpenter square i said no, i have this a couple of board nailed together to make a square , what it was was a jig for the inner rails as it was all i need ,the next day she came by and brought me a new Square and said it was a gift and that i did good work ,i didn’t want to hurt her feeling as i have a few square and she was kind and thoughtful enough to do that ,i made this box and am going to put this lee vally six incn square in it to thank her for that act of kindness , its some walnut and the other lumber is not sure i forget a friend Jeff http://lumberjocks.com/JL7 gave me a while back some pretty wood ,kindness i see it all over the place , sometimes a small act of kindness goes a long way ,thanks for looking i know its not perfect . it was the first time to make wooden hinges ,a friend told me they looked big on the small box ,told him they were presidential hinges like President Obama’s ears , just playing life’s to short to be to serious

Very nice box, love the woods used, came out great. The hinges look just fine, they add to the hand crafted appeal of the gift. The corner splines are also great looking, nice contrast in colors. Great work.
