Segmented Portion of a pen

It is very hard to see, but this student took a piece from a segmented bowl that was left over and turned it (no pun intended) into a pen. The top portion is a chevron inspired pattern with mahogany and walnut. There was a matching bottom portion, but that split while turning it on the lathe since it is all end grain. Four coats of “Z’s Shine Punch” a mixture of antique gym spirits applied on the lathe. Two applications of candle wax after 24hrs dry time.
