Pen Pencil holder and desk card holder

Spent little spare time on these also had a few request for something like this. Both bases are walnut left over pieces and the cardholders are left over scrap Paduak,cypress and maple. The thing I like best is that these are perfect projects for some of my left over scrapes.

How do you float the card holder at the angle? Is it dowel joinery, or … ?

I use a 1/4” dowel at the angle after sanding the base to deired angle on bottom
Like the way it comes together

Very nice. Like the colors and the scrap wood usage is always a bonus.
