Step stool

I made this step stool in woods class. I made it out of pine. I didn’t use stain because I liked the original color. I finished it off with gloss tung oil.

Great job learning some basic wood working and finishing skills. I like that everyone choose a different type of wood and also made different designs between the legs.

As a practical wood worker who focuses more on function than design, I think the decorative edges everyone made on the tops was a good way to learn how to use a router but those edges will in most cases get the most wear and abuse and will get damaged. A simple rounded edge would be more functional (also done with a router). The decorative edging would have served better on the edges of the legs and possibly the bottom of the stretcher.
Woodworking is a very useful life long learning process and we all improve as we try new things.
