The wood is beautiful, good instincts!

I’ve grown fond of the solid brass hinges from Rockler

Cheap enough and come with screws that are either solid brass or very well done plated steel.

Super box. That’s a beautiful piece of walnut. The wormy maple makes a great combo.

David, wow, what a stunning piece of walnut. Nice job on the finish. The splines are a nice touch. Finger lift works, but could be larger. Neat installation of the movement. What music does it play?

I have good luck making my box sides 5/8 of an inch and cutting down 1 1/16 inch piano hinges for boxes. It makes hinges for a box cost about $4 and your time. If you are interested, here is how to do that. This is how to make a box and cutting a mortise like I am talking about. It will look like this.

I really like your work. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Box woods are great choice. I’d agree about the hinges as they take my eye away from the box
