A miniature cedar vase I made for my daughter. Also made the rose. The flower is made from Fimo. Vase is approximately 2 1/2” tall.

Nice. If you get some glass test tubes to insert in the hole they can be used for live flowers too.

Thanks Les, and thanks you for the suggestion. We think alike. When I first made these Fimo roses I was inserting them into glass test tubes. That was sometime in the 1980s. The “test tubes” were actually used to sell cigars so they were slightly larger than a typical test tube. I’m not sure where to find them anymore.

Not having anymore glass tubes I decided to try my hand at making a small vase. Not having a lathe I thought I’d try using my belt sanders. The sanders were both stationary. One a typical 6”x48” belt/9” disc and the other a homemade fixture made to hold a 3”x21” belt sander.
