I recently finished this cigar box guitar for my son. The box I got from a local cigar shop, the neck is made of oak with a bit of maple on the headstock. and was mostly shaped with a spokeshave. The fretboard is maple and the fret markers are oak inlay. The tuners are from an old Fender squire, the frets are from Stewart Macdonald. The pickup I got from cbgitty ( i made the surround from some poplar) and the chicken head knobs I found on ebay.

I put together a video of the build process (mostly stills) but if you want to hear it play you can skip ahead to about 3:10

Great project, great video and great sound. Much respect to makers and players of their own instruments.

Nice job and great looking instrument. I like the bluesy sounds it makes in the video.

Great build, thanks for sharing.
Where you able to purchase metal for the fret bars or harvest off an older guitar?

Sounds great, and the finished project looks as good as it sounds.

Thank you for the reply and suggestions of where to purchase guitar hardware. Building a cigar box geetar is on the list of my winter projects.
