Had an odd shaped piece of Amur cherry. When I cut out the boot blank, the toe cap and tongue piece were out of proportion with the vamp portion. Interesting! Why not a boot for a Yeti!!??? So in went the carving burrs, dust flew and the result – BIG FOOT!!!
The darker grain is the onset of spalting, i.e. the wood was in a state of decay. So I shaped and sanded the block and gave a final coat of French polish (Lee Valley product). The boot will be a talk piece in someone’s home and how the stories will fly!

Nice boot and color. Toe wiggling room. Sunny here today and cold -23 this morning. Went out and took pictures of the snow laden trees and your beloved mountain.
