Talk about irony….. I made my first cut on my new Swap Saw and it cut dead square!!! Turned off the vacuum and heard my phone ding with an email. It’s from A2 Equipment, the maker of the Swap Saw, and they are closing their doors!!! Yep, CLOSING!!! They are working on selling the company but the new model won’t be like the old.

I guess they were waiting on me to finish the build. I bought it in September but just now had time to put the kit together.

Oh, well. The good news is that the only thing plugged up is the saw, so not much to go wrong.

I bought a steel city tablesaw and I never got an email when they were finished.

It’s like they said give “give him awhile get it set up before we tell him”. Sorry and funny. Nice saw.

As the owner of A2 Equipment and inventor of the Swap Saw™, I can assure you that Mr. SawDustOnMyShoulder did not kill A2 Equipment. The corporation still exists and I have all the equipment along with over 2000 feet of t-track.

My parents suffer from EBS (excess birthday syndrom) as both are in their ninety’s. I am a senior research engineer for Boeing and I was running two side businesses. Something had to go.

I will be retiring in the not too distant future and plan to take care of my parents. My dad will be 95 very soon and somebody has to take care of old wood shop teachers.

BTW, nice job on the Swap Saw™
I have a verbal agreement with a company to license the Swap Saw™ from me. It may very well end up in Home Depot.

Talk about serendipity :) An email upon completion and first cut and then a post for the inventor :O

Rock I can understand all of your issues very well. My Dad just past last spring at 97 and Mom is 88 and having her own difficulties. Best of luck with your future plans for the Swap Saw and the health of your folks. Try to keep your sanity. It ain’t easy, but they had to deal with us when we were making them pull their hair out. Only advantage they had then was youth. My hair grow grayer by the day :)

Rock,

Of course, I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek. I just found it really ironic that I got the email right when I made the first cut.

I got to use the my Swap Saw last weekend. I have a project for my church involving 10 sheets of 3/4” plywood and I was able to break those down into more maneuverable size in about 1/2 an hour and I’m 60 years old. With the help of the Swap Saw, I had all my cuts made and all the pieces edgebanded by the end of the day and STILL managed to take my wife out to dinner. :^)

Love the saw!! Thanks for creating it!!!

Glad you like the Swap Saw™.
Never fear, the Swap Saw™ shall rise again.
