Candle holders for Christmas presents. About 10 years ago I did 30 of them as table centerpieces for my daughter’s wedding. Hard maple, two coats of Danish oil and 4 of wiping poly finish. Sanded with 400 grit wet dry and 0000 steel wool between coats. Once I had the template done I could do 3, 5, and 7 candle units just by extending the number of scallops. Band saw to rough shape, sneaked up to the lines with a spindle sander, cut the top miter with the miter saw. Once the tops were glued up I laid them flat on a jig and trued up the bottoms with on the table saw and glued the bases. A couple of fasteners from the air nailer and they were done. Drilled the holes with a drill press and foresnter bit. The semi end grain hard maple was pretty hard on the forestner it and it was pretty much toast by the time I was done.

Added picture of the candle holder with actual candles :-) and my template that I used. Pretty much drew it out with a straight edge and French curve freehand. An attempt to make one like ones that I have seen in some of the Nordic catalogs.

Those are cool. I really like the design. Any pictures with candles?

Neat idea, the design could easily be adapted to any size candle or small bud vases. Definitely a favorite, thanks for sharing.

-- Red pencil, red marker, marking knife... doesn't mater, the wood will end up the same color.
