Project Information
This little car is a lot smaller than the ones I posted previously. Only 3.5 inches long. I've made quite a few of these and this one is by far the best looking one. I made it from some spruce I had from a very old project. I'm not saying how long I've had this wood. It smells like Christmas trees when you cut it.
The finish is brushed amber shellac the more coats I put on the smoother it got. I sanded a bit here and there with 320 grit sand paper to get rid of fuzzies to start and later when a defect would pop up I actually repaired a couple of spots. I had heard you could do that but this was the first time I ever tried.
The the axle hubs are painted with metallic blue craft paint. I think it adds a nice color accent.
