This keep sake box is made for a friend who is writing his life stories book this year, so i wanted to make a special box for him to keep it in with any other special things. The box is made of antique southern heart pine, spalted oak, black walnut, hard maple, and bubinga..the lid handle is bubinga and there is a 1/8th inlay of bubinga along the edge of the lid,the handles on the side are from a red bud limb that came down from a storm. My friend is from Utah and the state motto is industry,and the beehive represents that, so i made a bee hive made from walnut and dogwood and inlayed it into the top. Its my first try at an inlay of this type and i made a little mistake at the bottom..but i tried to fix it the best i could.this has been a long time coming as its taken me some time since i had some health issues this winter..but its been so much fun and i look forward to when my friend see’s his gift..then the project will be complete..thank you for looking. grizzman
